Pushpins

I’m starting to find my writing process is excruciating.  I’m still working on my short story, as I mentioned in my previous entry, but I had a different idea that made the format change.  Now I’m basically rewriting it. It’s going well enough, but my problem is I tend to want to edit before I have all my ideas written out. I will write a paragraph or two, walk away from the computer for a few minutes, a few hours, a day. When I re-read what I’ve written, I start editing. It makes it nearly impoossible to get more than a couple of pages of the damn thing written. I think perhaps my two biggest speed bumps right now are my lack of discipline and my tendency to get carried away with description. What I’d like is to just type it all out, type until my fingers go numb, then go back and edit. In fact, that is exactly what I’m going to try to do this morning. I have about an hour and a half before I have to get my day going. Wish me luck.

sis, this is exactly the problem i have whenever i write, and why it takes me forever to even do anything. and usually why i just give up on whatever is in my head. i end up editing like crazy and never get the rest out. i’m glad you’re at least trying to work on it again. sometimes an overhaul is the best thing. don’t give up. you can do it, and when it’s done i’ll tell the world, that’s my sis. :*
